Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Continues Free Fishing Weekend Tradition

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will continue its annual Free Fishing Weekend tradition June 11-12.

During the weekend, resident and nonresident anglers can fish in any waters open to fishing without a state license.

Additionally, visitors will not be required to display a Vehicle Access Pass or Discover Pass for day-use visits to a Washington state park or lands managed by the Washington Department of Natural Resources or WDFW.

The two-day event is a great time to fish for trout and bass in lakes, lingcod and rockfish on the coast or salmon in the Columbia River.

Anglers should check open dates and current fishing regulations valid through the end of June before hitting the water, as well as any emergency rules in effect.

While no licenses are required on Free Fishing Weekend, other rules such as seasons, size limits, daily limits and area closures are still in effect. Catch record card requirements also remain in effect.
