Gov. Jay Inslee has tested positive for COVID-19, his office announced Thursday morning.

He is experiencing mild symptoms, including a mild cough, but will continue working and taking meetings virtually, according to the announcement.

Inslee was exposed to an individual who tested positive for COVID-19 prior to receiving his updated booster vaccine Wednesday evening. He tested positive Thursday morning.

"COVID remains with us and vaccination remains as important as ever," Inslee said in a statement. "We are so appreciative that we have this vaccine that has the ability to keep you out of the hospital or worse. I'm glad I received it and encourage others to take advantage."

This is the third time the governor has tested positive for the virus. He also tested positive in February 2023 and May 2022, The Olympian reported.
