A multiagency stolen vehicle recovery operation netted eight vehicles last week across Multnomah County, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

The operation, which took place June 23, involved nine agencies, including the Portland Police Bureau, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, district attorney’s office and the parole and probation office, plus the Vancouver and Gresham police departments and the Port of Portland Police.

The operation, the team’s first after a six-month pause, resulted in nine arrests, eight arrest warrants served and two vehicle pursuits, officials said.

In one incident, PPB attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle without license plates, officials said. The bike’s rider fled from police at speeds topping 100 mph, traveling between Oregon and Washington. Vancouver police eventually arrested the rider after they fled into a local business.

In a separate incident in Southeast Portland, officers stopped a fleeing driver without injury. Inside the vehicle, officers found numerous fraudulent documents and identification, according to PPB. The operation also helped find a man PPB wanted in connection with a burglary.

The operation, including the two pursuits, got an assist from PPB and MCSO, which used aircraft to track fleeing subjects.
