Lewis County’s public health headquarters experienced major water damage over the weekend, and officials are directing individuals to go elsewhere for water testing services.
In a news release Sunday, the county reported that its water laboratory sustained “significant water damage due to a plumbing issue,” and will be closed for approximately two months.
Other certified labs can be found at tinyurl.com/4xnuvw4e, or samples can be dropped off at 1162 State Ave., Chehalis, Tuesdays before 9:30 a.m. and Thursdays before 11:15 a.m.
In a Monday meeting, Chief of Internal Services Steve Wohld described the damage as “shocking,” saying “it wasn’t just leaking. It was gushing.”
