Fueled by four of their top-five runners setting lifetime bests and all inside the top-10, the Centralia Tigers — despite having more than five varsity girls runners to post a team score — put on a show against Tumwater and Shelton on Wednesday at Fort Borst Park.

Senior Elyse O’Dell was the top Centralia runner, placing second behind Tumwater’s Alexandra Broome. The gap between two of the best runners in the Evergreen Conference was almost 25 seconds.

Centralia’s other scoring runners were Liesl Stout (fourth), Eva Stout (sixth), Eden Hansen (eighth) and Andi Voetberg (ninth). That quartet all ran under 24 minutes. Tumwater’s two other finishers were Brooklyn Schenck (10th) and Audrey Hickman (13th).

On the boys side, Centralia’s Ethan Weiher claimed the boys individual win, running the 5,000-meter course in a new season-best time of 18:11.19. It’s his second win of the season and fourth in his prep career. Tumwater clipped the Tigers in the team race 24-36.

The T-Birds’ top four runners finished 2-3-4-5, paced by freshman Tyler Clark’s runner-up placement. Adam Leon (sixth) and Evan Thummel (seventh) had a season-best and personal best, respectively. Eli Baldwin also recorded a top-10 finish, crossing the line in ninth.
