W.F. West alum Dakota Hawkins is on the move in the New York Mets minor league system, as the right-handed pitcher was promoted to the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies after a successful stretch with the Single-A Brooklyn Cyclones.

On Wednesday, Hawkins made his first start with Binghamton since the recent call-up, striking out two batters in three scoreless innings of relief.

He had one appearance with Binghamton earlier in the season, on April 12, before an appearance with Brooklyn and an appearance with the Triple-A Syracuse Mets.

After his appearance in Syracuse, Hawkins made 15 appearances with the Cyclones from April 19 to July 9, posting a 2.29 earned run average, holding opponents to a .209 batting average, and striking out 28 batters while walking just eight across 35.1 innings.

On July 9, his latest appearance with the Cyclones, he threw six perfect innings, striking out five en route to his third victory of the season.

Since 2024, Hawkins has now pitched in 71 games for the Cyclones, with occasional appearances for both Binghamton and Syracuse mixed in.

Across 83 minor league appearances (as of July 22), Hawkins has posted a 3.45 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) with 187 strikeouts across 198.1 innings.

Syracuse, Binghamton, and Brooklyn are minor league affiliates of the New York Mets, where Hawkins signed as an undrafted free agent in 2023 after throwing collegiately at Washington State University and Lower Columbia College.

Hawkins and the Rumble Ponies will wrap up a six-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs this weekend before heading to Reading to take on Fightin Phils in another six-game set next week.
