The W.F. West boys wrestling team sealed another league title on Wednesday, taking down Shelton 44-31 in a home dual.
The dual was the Bearcats’ senior night, and all four W.F. West seniors — Race Scalici, Graysen Serl, Lewis Allen, and Alexander Mathuzima — all picked up victories.
Scalici picked up a first-round pin at 165 to pick up his 150th career win, and Serl also won via first-round pin at 175. Allen won via tech fall at 144, and Mathuzima won by decision at 150.
Also winning for the Bearcats was Colton Withrow (113), Seth Norby-Betts (126), and Liam Land (157), who all pinned their opponent, and both Kyson Peterson (132) and Noa Tuitea (285) won via forfeit.
“Good to get that win,” W.F. West coach Jamie Rakevich said. “Proud of the kids tonight. They came out and wrestled well.”
Next up for the Bearcats is the State Duals Tournament in Orting on Saturday, and next Saturday, Feb. 7, they’ll head to Tumwater for the league tournament.
“The season's coming to an end,” Rakevich said. “But hopefully we can find a way to keep going and have a good state tournament.”
