Despite nursing a five-point cushion with a quarter to go, the Bearcats couldn’t seal the deal in regulation or overtime, losing a 54-48 overtime thriller versus Montesano on Thursday night in Montesano.
The Bulldogs used 19 points in the fourth to send the non-league contest into overtime, where they scored 12 and seized control to hold on despite going 4 of 12 from the free-throw line in the extra frame.
W.F. West, who was without the services of Wyatt Hoffman, was led by Fox Rogerson’s nine points while Alex Stafford and Cody Schwarz each had eight. The Bearcats (3-5) will return to the court in 2026 at home versus Cedarcrest on Jan. 3.
