W.F. West picked up a league win over Shelton on Monday, when the Bearcats topped the Highclimbers 5-1.
Ellie Mittge, Isabelle Casimiro, and Kloey Sparks swept the three singles matches without dropping a single game, and Aubrey Prigmore/Elianan Alves and Jaiden Rinta/Rosa Lampert won their doubles matches while dropping just three games apiece in the two sets.
Kate Mordick and Maddie Bradley fell in the top doubles match, but W.F. West coach Megan Wellander was quick to praise Shelton’s No. 1 duo.
Now three matches in, Wellander says she’s enjoyed working with the “fun, young” group, and she said that they’ll continue to tinker with lineups as they figure out who works best where.
“There’s lots of energy, and lots of areas of improvement,” Wellander said. “They're very focused and they're getting the competitive energy and the things that we want. Besides all the rain, we’ve been having a good time.”
W.F. West is slated to host Columbia River on Tuesday.
