W.F. West runs winning streak to three with shutout over Aberdeen

Since the Bearcats came back from spring break, their defense has allowed just one regulation goal and its spark continued on Tuesday night with a 2-0 triumph over the Bobcats at Stewart Field.

Nearly a month after Aberdeen beat W.F. West by the same score, the latter returned the favor. Gage Grisham pocketed a rebound shot off a corner kick for a goal in the 39th minute. In the second half, Alex Mathuzima ripped a 35-plus yard shot to double the margin.

W.F. West (7-4-1, 4-2 EvCo) head coach Allen Anderson credited goalie River Haydon and its backline for withstanding pressure from Aberdeen over the final 40 minutes.

“One of our more complete games as a team,” Anderson stated.

The Bearcats will try and duplicate their revenge on Friday when they host Centralia for The Chronicle Cup. The Tigers won the first meeting by a 4-0 final.
