Hayden Rooney was the hero for W.F. West on Friday in Chehalis, where he drove a walk-off single to left field to give W.F. West a 4-3 victory over the Highclimbers.

It was 2-1 Shelton going into the bottom of the sixth before Beckman Dvorak tied the game with an RBI single, and after Shelton retook the lead in the top of the seventh, Alex Stafford tied it up with an RBI double.

Stafford scored the winning run when Rooney’s single made it through the left side a batter later.

Rooney finished 1 for 3 with his walk-off knock, while Stafford went 2 for 4 with an RBI of his own. Connor Coleman added three hits in four trips to the plate, and Dvorak and Wyatt Hoffman also added a pair of hits each.

Coleman also pitched the first six innings for W.F. West, allowing two hits and two earned runs while walking three and striking out nine.

W.F. West (4-1, 1-0 2A EvCo) will be back at home on Tuesday to host Centralia.
