Another week, another win for the W.F. West football team, as the Bearcats doubled up 4A Battle Ground 28-14 on Friday night.

After a scoreless first, both offenses found a groove in the second, as the two teams combined for 35 points.

The Tigers got on the board first, but Gage Brumfield found Tucker Land for a 22-yard touchdown to tie the game at seven.

After another Battle Ground touchdown, Land ran in a five-yard score, and he caught another touchdown pass from Brumfield before half to give W.F. West a 21-14 lead.

Brumfield found the end zone with his legs late in the third to extend the lead to 14.

Outside of the second quarter, the W.F. West defense was its usual stout self. The Bearcats allowed just 236 total yards in the game, including just 64 on the ground on 19 carries, an average of just 3.4 yards per carry.

Brumfield finished with 185 yards through the air and he added 89 more on the ground, while Land finished with 102 total yards and three total touchdowns.

W.F. West will now enter the most important stretch of its regular season, as it will take on Centralia in the Swamp Cup next Friday before facing Tumwater on Oct. 25.
