White Pass Ski Area Castle Jam: Trick competition winners pose with prizes and medals following last weekend’s contest

While the weather was not the best for the competition, with intermittent drizzles making the snow slow and sticky for snowboarders and skiers, dozens of them still turned out last Saturday for the White Pass Ski Area Castle Jam freestyle trick competition.

Participants were divided into junior, intermediate and open divisions, along with a women’s division.

The winners are as follows:

• Junior ski division: William Kirkpatrick, first place; Reed Santhuff, second place; Kaden McPeek, third place

• Junior snowboard division: Forest Johnson, first place; Levi Suderman, second place; Hudson Leist, third place

• Intermediate ski division: Gavin Olson, first place; Ben Matudchak, second place; Caleb Leavitt, third place

• Intermediate snowboard division: Byron Bernd, first place; Lincoln Clark, second place; Mason Tournow, third place

• Women’s ski division: Allie Ward, first place; Sally Marshall, second place; Alexa Doll, third place

• Open ski division: Ben Golliet, first place; Jacob Jones, second place; Tegan Connell, third place

• Open snowboard division: Oliver Belland, first place; Luke Sprunger, second place; Jamin White, third place

The competition was held behind the Day Lodge on the remnants of the snow castle from the 40th annual White Pass Ski Area Winter Carnival the previous weekend. It was organized in partnership with Stoke Mountain, an indoor ski and snowboard center in Tukwila.

Prizes were provided by sponsors including K2, Arbor Collective, 686, Salomon, Line, Smith, Dragon, ROAN Hoods, CG Habitats, SlideofHand, Sporthaus and Lincoln Avenue Coffee Company.

The White Pass Ski Area still has a few early spring events scheduled for the end of the ski season through April, including its High Camp Lodge Prom, Easter at White Pass, the Party Park Send It Session 2026, The High Camp Lodge Beach Party and the White Pass Ski Area Pond Skim.
