A wildfire near Rainier has prompted an urgent evacuation order for residents starting at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday.
Residents are advised to immediately evacuate a triangular area bound by Rainier Road Southeast, Military Road and 138th Avenue, according to an alert from Thurston County Emergency Management.
The order directs residents to leave the area and follow directions from emergency personnel. Due to the situation, the order warns that roads may be blocked or congested with traffic.
In social media posts, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said the fire was moving east.
