Willapa Harbor Hospital launches Patient and Family Advisory Council

Posted

After months of planning, Willapa Harbor Hospital held the first meeting of its newly established Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) on Aug. 24.

Creating the PFAC has involved hours of meetings, interviews, recruitment efforts and thoughtful organization, according to a news release from the hospital.

The PFAC brings together patients, family members, caregivers and hospital staff to help improve healthcare in the community.

By providing insight and diverse perspectives, council members will help guide efforts to enhance the patient experience, improve communication, support quality and safety initiatives, strengthen patient and family education, and improve care transitions, according to the news release.

PFAC members help identify opportunities for improvement and contribute ideas that support more patient-centered care.

Willapa Harbor Hospital is grateful to all the community members, patients, family representatives, caregivers and staff who volunteered their time and experiences to participate in the initiative, the release stated.
