The Winlock football team had an early lead against Ilwaco on Friday, but once the Fishermen kicked it into gear, there was no stopping them.
Ilwaco ended the game with seven unanswered touchdowns, handing Winlock a 58-12 loss at home.
Landon Cline opened the scoring by finding Jaxyn Pelagio on a one-yard pass, and the two connected again from 27 yards out to put Winlock up 12-6 after one.
Ilwaco got going offensively, though, as Corbin Johnson scored four straight touchdowns, upping his total to five on the day and giving Ilwaco a lead it wouldn’t relinquish.
James Cusson led the Cardinals with 67 yards on 18 attempts, while Pelagio finished with three catches for 30 yards and the two touchdowns. Cline finished 5 for 14 through the air with 51 passing yards.
Winlock (0-2) will look for its first win on the road at Toutle Lake next week.
