A Winlock man is facing a felony assault charge for allegedly shoving his elderly mother to the ground.
David Todd Thrailkill, 58, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail at approximately 7:37 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, after Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an assault at a Winlock address about an hour and a half prior.
He was charged Wednesday, Dec. 31, in Lewis County Superior Court with one count of second-degree assault, domestic violence. The charge is a class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Thrailkill’s father reported the assault, saying that Thrailkill had shoved his mother during a verbal argument and knocked her to the ground.
The victim, who uses a walker, sustained a cut and bruise to her elbow and reported significant pain to her right shoulder, wrist and hip.
She was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for medical treatment.
When questioned, Thrailkill reportedly said he had been arguing with his parents over a court date for an unrelated case, and allegedly admitted to shoving his mother during the argument.
During his arrest, he allegedly “kept talking about how he is never believed in these situations,” according to court documents.
At the time of the incident, Thrailkill was out of custody on release conditions for an unrelated fourth-degree assault case out of Lewis County District Court, and for an unrelated Lewis County Superior Court case involving residential burglary, vehicle prowl, criminal trespass and obstruction charges.
He is currently awaiting a competency evaluation for those cases, according to defense attorney Rachael Tiller.
Bail in the new case is set at $25,000.
A no-contact order protecting the victim is in place.
