A 49-year-old Winlock man is wanted by police after a female victim reported Tuesday she had been physically assaulted and forcibly pushed out of a vehicle by the suspect, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the victim, she requires the use of a wheelchair, which the suspect reportedly left the scene with. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim sitting in the roadway with her dog. Following an initial investigation, probable cause was established to arrest the suspect for assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence. Deputies also learned that the suspect had an active felony warrant for his arrest, according to the police department.
A short time later, deputies located the suspect’s vehicle nearby. The victim’s wheelchair was visible in the back of the vehicle. However, the suspect had fled the area prior to law enforcement’s arrival. A K-9 track was initiated but was unsuccessful in locating the suspect. During the K-9 deployment, K-9 Kimbo alerted to the suspect’s vehicle, indicating the potential presence of narcotics.
The vehicle, which lacked license plates and a visible VIN, was seized as evidence. On Wednesday, deputies executed a search warrant on the vehicle. During the search, the victim’s personal belongings and wheelchair were recovered, along with evidence consistent with narcotics activity.
The suspect, who the sheriff’s office did not name, is being referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for assault in the fourth degree with domestic violence, possession of a controlled substance, criminal mistreatment in the second degree, and theft in the second degree.
