Though the election is not until 2024, a Winlock woman has announced her candidacy for a seat on the Board of Lewis County Commissioners.

Christina Riley will pursue the seat currently held by Commissioner Lindsey Pollock in District 2, which represents areas south and west of the Twin Cities. Both Pollock and Riley are Republicans.

According to the release, Riley’s background is in building and construction, and she’s a journeyman construction craft laborer.

Riley runs a business focused on training and apprenticeships, according to the release, which also states she has spent 10 years on community boards such as the New Market Skills Center and played a role in youth apprenticeship standards in Washington.

“She’s also been part of events like the Apprenticeship Career Day at W.F. West,” the release stated. “Active in her community, Riley volunteers for youth groups and often fundraises for them. She, her husband Travis, and their two kids run a small farm and are involved in local 4-H groups.”

Riley provided a statement in the news release: “I want Lewis County to grow without losing its values. It’s a great place for families, and I want to keep it that way.”

As a business owner, she’s keen on supporting local businesses, the release stated.
