Wolves blow big lead in loss against Eagles

The Black Hills football team jumped out to a 21-0 lead against 1A Elma, but couldn’t hold off an Eagle rally in a 41-35 loss on Friday.

The Wolves led 21-0 just two minutes into the second quarter, but the Eagles responded, as Carter Studer found Jacob Meadows on a wide receiver screen to get Elma on the board.

Less than a minute later, the Eagles found the end zone again to cut the lead to seven.

Black Hills was able to extend the lead before the break, however, as Jaxsen Beck found Maddox Hodge for a 35-yard touchdown.

From there, it was all Eagles. Elma went on a 34-0 run in the second half, only halted by a late Wolves touchdown that got the game within one possession with five minutes left.

The Wolves’ search for their first win continues, and next week, either they or Centralia will be celebrating win No. 1.

The winless teams take on each other at Tiger Stadium on Friday.
