Wolves cruise in sweep of Warriors

The Black Hills volleyball team got back in the win column on Tuesday with a dominant victory over Rochester.

The Wolves (2-2, 1-0 2A EvCo) cruised in the first two sets, winning them 25-13 and 25-8, respectively, and held on in a closer third set, 25-20, to complete the sweep.

Lilly Kincaid was key on offense and defense for the Wolves, as she led the team with 20 assists and seven digs. Ashley Harris led the team with 12 kills, while Claire Johnson added five.

Harris also led the team with four aces, and Ava Klovas and Anneliese Dale both recorded three.

The Warriors (0-3, 0-1 2A EvCo) struggled throughout, and Rochester coach Bridget Morris says that unforced errors quickly took them out of the game.

“We definitely got in our own heads, and we were making more mistakes than they were forcing,” Morris said. “I think we kind of hurt ourselves more than we should have.”

Cheyenne Justice led the way with seven digs, while Madison Angwood added five digs. Izzy Masias recorded four aces, and Delany Winter tallied three kills.

Both teams return to action on Thursday, as Black Hills will head across the freeway to take on Tumwater and Rochester will look to get in the win column when they host Centralia. Both games are set for 7 p.m.
