The Black Hills’ boys’ basketball team couldn’t get it going offensively on Thursday, struggling to keep pace in a 68-42 loss to Seattle Academy.
The Cardinals’ defense swarmed the Wolves throughout the first half, allowing just 16 points. The Wolves didn’t hit a two-point field goal attempt until the third quarter, only scoring on four 3-pointers and four free throws.
“We spent way too much time on the defensive end and were forced into too many tough shots on the offensive end,” Black Hills coach Jeff Gallagher said.
The offense was able to pick it up in the second half, but the Cardinals maintained their lead and the hole was too big to climb out of.
James Morgan finished with a team-high 14 points for the Wolves, while Talon Morrill also finished in double-figures with 10. Morgan also grabbed six rebounds, tying for the team-high with Jack Ellison.
It’s a quick turnaround for the Wolves, who will head to Eatonville tomorrow before opening league play at Aberdeen on Tuesday.
