One woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a collision that happened April 8 on Bald Hill Road near Yelm. The crash prompted officials to close the roadway for some time.
Lt. Cameron Simper with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said the woman was driving south in the 15600 block of Bald Hill Road SE at around 3:30 p.m. when she came to a curve in the road. At the same time, a pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer was approaching the curve from the other direction. The woman crossed the centerline, and the driver of the truck tried to avoid a collision, but the woman struck the trailer.
Simper said she was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and his passenger were uninjured.
