A Vancouver woman is dead after two personal watercrafts collided on Lacamas Lake in Washington Thursday evening.

According to a press release from the Camas police, three people who knew each other were riding on two personal watercrafts when they collided. A woman identified as Angela Narciso, 48, and a 10-year-old child were thrown off their watercraft. Both were wearing life jackets, and a nearby boater pulled them both from the water and began lifesaving efforts on Narciso. The child and the person operating the other watercraft were not hurt.

Camas police and the Camas-Washougal Fire Department responded to a call about the incident at about 7:10 p.m. The woman was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased, according to Camas police.

“We have heard of several water-related fatal incidents this summer in the region, and it is a sober reminder for everyone to take precautions. Please operate vessels safely, wear personal flotation devices, take a boater safety class, have all the required safety equipment, be aware of others in the water, and get up to date on CPR,” said Camas Police Chief Tina Jones.
