The woman accused of hitting and killing a traffic flagger near a construction site in Gresham has turned herself in, police said.
Courtney McKee, 26, of Vancouver, allegedly struck Miguel Hernandez near the intersection of Northeast Division Street and Hogan Drive while driving on Aug. 31, the Gresham Police Department said in a statement.
She faces charges of first- and second-degree manslaughter, failure to perform the duties of a driver to seriously injured persons, DUII, reckless endangerment of highway workers and reckless endangerment, court records show.
Police said that Jimenez initially survived the crash and that McKee allegedly fled the scene. Jimenez later died from his injuries at a local hospital.
CCTV cameras in the area recorded much of the incident, and police used the footage to identify and track down the car, which they identified as a light-colored Sedan associated with McKee, police said.
Detectives served “multiple search warrants” as they investigated the case, and on Tuesday a grand jury indicted McKee after reviewing the evidence, court records say. Police issued a warrant for her arrest following the indictment, and she turned herself in to Vancouver police that same day.
McKee has no prior convictions in Oregon or Washington.
