WSDOT: Plan for weekend daytime lane closures on Interstate 5 in Tumwater Nov. 18-19

Posted

WEDNESDAY UPDATE FROM WSDOT: “Left lane closures on Interstate 5 in Tumwater near the US 101 interchange scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, and 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, are canceled. The work will be rescheduled to a later date.”

Daytime travelers who use Interstate 5 in Tumwater will want to build extra time into their trips, according to the Washington state Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

From 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, WSDOT maintenance crews will close the left lane of I-5 in both directions between milepost 104 and milepost 105 near the U.S. Highway 101 interchange.

During the closure, crews will repair the center barrier. Drivers should expect congestion and give themselves extra time to travel through the work zone, according to the WSDOT.

“Work is set to take place during the day when driver behavior is generally safer, and crews and work zone signs are more easily seen,” WSDOT stated. “With increases in work zone crashes and risky driving, WSDOT is taking several steps to better ensure everyone’s safety in work zones.”
