It's a bird. It's a plane. It's Superman. It's actually ... none of the above. It's a shark. Really.

As the Discovery Channel's Shark Week approaches at the end of the month, a Shark Week blimp will take to the sky on the West Coast for the first time. The blimp typically only flies over the East Coast.

According to a release, the West Coast blimp began its journey in San Francisco and is making its way to the Pacific Northwest. The blimp will travel over cities like Portland, Salem, Eugene, Medford, Tacoma, Longview, Centralia and Vancouver.

The blimp will be hard to miss as it measures 179 feet long and 56 feet tall, which is larger than its East Coast counterpart that is 128 feet long and 44 feet high. The blimps will be traveling approximately 250 miles per day at 50 miles an hour.

People are encouraged to use the hashtags #WestShark or #EastShark when posting on their social media channels. Each tag counts to the Battle of the Blimps count.

The original date for the blimps to make its way through the Northwest were July 9-10. However, according to new information from MPRM Communications, the blimp is now scheduled to fly over these areas July 10-15 due to weather. According to the release, cities could change due to weather and other conditions and these updates can be tracked on www.SharkWeek.com/Blimp.
