Misael Quinteros, Centralia, reeled in the longest fish, 17¾ inches, during the Centralia Lions Club Fishing Derby Saturday, April 27, at Centralia’s Fort Borst Park.
Finishing in a tie for second at 16½ inches were James Oberg, Rochester, and Austin Lawrence, Toledo.
There was also a tie for third place between Daniel Thompson, Chehalis, and Serena Lawrence, Toledo, with 16 3/8-inch catches.
The long-fish winners received a fishing pole, reel and tackle box from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.
A total of 268 youngsters registered for the derby.
Bicycles were awarded by the Riverside Fire Authority in three age groups. Winner in 0-6 group was Cornelio DeLa Rosa III, Centralia.
In the 7-11 age group, the bicycle winner was Mercedes Douglass, Chehalis. Claiming a bicycle in the 12-14 group was Kaila Robles, Puyallup.
Many other prizes were awarded to the youngsters who competed in the fishing derby. The prizes were donated by Sunbird Shopping Center, Cabela’s. Following are the recipients of those prizes.
