Peyton Zock had another outstanding outing on Saturday in Pe Ell, where she posted a double-double and led the Trojans to a 50-29 victory over Willapa Valley.
Pe Ell was able to build a double-digit lead in the first half, and it maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second half.
“These games against Valley are always very physical and this one was no different,” Pe Ell coach Kelsey Lennox said. “Though at times it got a little heated, I’m proud of my girls for staying in control and taking care of the ball.”
Zock finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds, four steals, and three assists to lead the Trojans, while Karli Phelps added 10 points, seven steals, three blocks, and a pair of assists.
Madi Engel scored five points to go along with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals, and Maisy King tallied five points of her own in addition to nine rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks.
Kassidy Hayes added three points, and Tristyn Zock, Bailey Cox, and Ava King tallied two points apiece. Tristyn Zock also brought down four rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.
The Trojans (8-7, 4-0 1B CVL) have now won six in a row, and they sit atop the 1B Columbia Valley League with four league games to play.
“We still have some things to clean up before district play, but I like what we’ve been doing lately,” Lennox said. “We’re learning and improving, taking care of the ball, playing more as a team, and keeping up our intensity and energy for a full four quarters.”
Pe Ell will be back in action on Monday at home against Three Rivers Christian.
