The Adna volleyball team started its season on a high note, as the Pirates took care of business in a 25-10, 25-14, 25-20 win over Montesano.

“The girls are communicating well and playing together,” Adna coach Wendie Dotson said.

Karsyn Freeman tallied 24 kills and nine digs, Kendall Humphrey logged 14 digs, 13 kills, a pair of blocks, and a stuff block.

Gaby Guard recorded 39 assists, nine digs, a kill, a block, and a stuff block, and Danika Hallom had 11 digs, six kills, three assists, and an ace.

McKenna Torrey added five digs, a stuff, and an ace, and she served during a 12-0 Adna run in the first set.

The Pirates are right back at it on Tuesday, when they host Castle Rock for their home opener. After that, they’ll have nearly two weeks off before heading east to face Manson on Saturday, Sept. 21.
