WENATCHEE — Police arrested a Wenatchee man after his 1-year-old son was hospitalized Tuesday from a drug overdose.

First responders were called at 8:26 p.m. to a home on the 1100 block of Jefferson Street in Wenatchee where a baby stopped breathing after ingesting unidentified drugs, according to the Wenatchee Police Department.

Investigators believe the boy's father, Michael W. Holmes, 29, kept opioids and other drugs at the home.

Ambulance crews gave the boy a dose of Narcan, a medicine that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose.

He was transported to Confluence Health Hospital and then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he appears to have recovered, the department said in a news release.

After serving a search warrant at the home, police say they found fentanyl, Xanax, Suboxone, a psilocybin mushroom grow, and what they suspect was methamphetamines and cocaine.

Holmes was arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment and unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance (psilocybin).

He made a preliminary appearance Wednesday in Chelan County Superior Court, where he was released on personal recognizance.

Minutes from the hearing note that the Chelan County Prosecuting Attorney's Office would be waiting to file charges. Prosecuting Attorney Robert Sealby declined to comment on the case Thursday.
