Ten drivers, including seven motorcyclists, were involved in a Saturday afternoon wreck that blocked an area highway for four hours, according to the Washington State Patrol. Some of those motorcyclists were seriously injured.
Two Pierce County men and a Lewis County man were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to the State Patrol.
About noon Saturday, three people driving cars were headed east on state Route 18 at state Route 167 in Auburn. Troopers say there was a collision among the cars, which then veered into the path of the seven motorcyclists.
One of those cars and its driver were not identified by State Patrol. The cause of the collision was “following too close,” according to State Patrol. Nine drivers were injured but most were checked out and cleared by aid at the scene, according to the State Patrol.
One passenger also was hurt, but he, too, was cleared by aid at the scene.
The three serious motorcyclist injuries involved a 63-year-old man from Tacoma, a 56-year-old man from Eatonville and a 46-year-old man from Morton.
The road was blocked for four hours and seven minutes, according to the State Patrol.
