Firefighters from East Grays Harbor Fire and Rescue responded to a fire in a motorhome in Porter Tuesday afternoon.

The call came in just before 1 p.m., said Chief Kenny Ward.

“It came in as a motorhome on fire. Not occupied, smoke and flames visible,” Ward said in a phone interview. “It was an old one that someone was doing some work on.”

No one was in the vehicle at the time of the fire, Ward said.

“We had an engine, an ambulance, and a tender go out,” Ward said. “They extinguished it by 13:13.”

The fire was caused by improper use of an electric cutting tool, Ward said. The motorhome is a total loss.

“Be very cautious in your tools that can heat up through friction or throw sparks,” Ward said. “Use proper fire mitigation.”
