ONALASKA — The Tigers swept Onalaska in a Central 2B League doubleheader here Friday, eking out a come-from-behind 6-5 win in the opener before cruising to an 11-0 victory in the nightcap.

Sam Fagerness and Cody Hamrick hit dueling first inning two-run home runs for Napavine and Onalaska, respectively. Fagerness finished 2 for 2, adding a three-run homer in the fifth to total five RBIs in the game.

Hamrick had two hits in four at-bats for the Loggers, as did AJ Volk and Kyle Trulson.

Dawson Stanley and Jordan Purvis were both 2 for 4 for Napavine.

“We played our best game of the year,” Onalaska coach Rocky Stanley said. “We hit the ball decent, we only had one error, and we made the routine plays. It was a well-played game by both teams.”

Napavine scored six runs in the fourth inning of the second game, as the Tigers earned an 11-0 victory. Napavine started the fourth inning with five straight hits.

Mac Fagerness, Garrett Shannon and Ben Woodrum were all 2 for 3 with a double for Napavine.

Nate Rodriguez started at pitcher for the Tigers, with Jordan Purvis taking the mound in the fifth. Rodriguez and Purvis gave up three hits in the win, which was called after five innings.

Napavine (6-7, 6-6 in league) hosts Pe Ell-Willapa Valley in a doubleheader on Friday. Onalaska (1-11) has a doubleheader at Mossyrock on Friday.

Toledo Stays Perfect With Sweep of Ducks

TOLEDO — The Indians stayed perfect in Central 2B League action here Monday afternoon, taking a twinbill from Toutle Lake by 8-4 and 4-2 scores.

Toledo plated five runs in the first inning and cruised the rest of the way in the opener, building a 7-2 lead after two frames of action.

Kolton Korpi went 3 for 4 and drove in a run, while Wes Kuzminsky was 3 for 4 and knocked in two runs.

Dakota Robins added two RBIs, and Dalton Yoder went 2 for 3 and drove in a run. Kuzminsky also worked all seven innings, giving up two earned runs, to get the win.

Dillon Brown went 3 for 3 with an RBI for Toutle Lake, while Chance Opsahl and Nate Porter each had two hits.

Connor Vermilyea led the way in the Game 2 win, pitching all seven innings and holding the Ducks to four hits without an earned run — or a walk — while striking out three.

He helped his own cause by going 1 for 2 at the dish, while Alex Bacon was 2 for 2. Bryce Marcil and Kuzminsky each drove in runs.

Toutle Lake came into the doubleheader with an 8-2 mark in league play, putting the Ducks in fourth place in the 10-team conference.

Toledo (13-1, 12-0 league) plays a doubleheader at Wahkiakum on Friday.

PWV Takes Sole Possession of Second With Sweep of Mules

PE ELL — The Titans came up big late in both games here Monday to sweep Wahkiakum, 2-0 and 4-3, in Central 2B League baseball action.

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley’s four hits all went for extra bases and were strung together in the fifth and sixth innings in Game 1. Kaelin Jurek doubled and came home on a triple from Trevor Cook in the fifth, and Jason Fluke doubled and scored on a triple from Red Arrington in the sixth.

Arrington pitched all seven innings of the opener, striking out 12 and giving up six hits without walking a batter. He loaded the bases with three singles in the first inning, but worked out of the jam without allowing a run.

“It was a decent outing,” PWV coach Hal Arrington said.

Wahkiakum, however, scored three runs in the first inning of Game 2, before relief pitcher Cub Bair took over and blanked the Mules until the seventh inning. Jurek moved from behind the plate to the mound for the final out to seal the save.

The Titans trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh, which Arrington led off with his second home run of the season. Dustin Lusk then hit a single and scored on Jurek’s walk-off double.

Lusk finished the second game 3 for 4 with a triple and an RBI.

Arrington pointed out that the Titans left runners in scoring position in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings of Game 2.

“We just couldn’t get anything across the plate,” he said. “I was proud of the boys for coming back and winning, especially as hot as it was today.”

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley and Wahkiakum were tied with 9-1 league records heading into the doubleheader, giving the Titans sole possession of second place — behind undefeated Toledo — in the C2BL standings. The Titans are scheduled to play a league doubleheader at Napavine on Friday, though the game may be moved up to Thursday due to weather concerns.

Timberwolves Take Two From Cardinals

MORTON — Morton-White Pass swept a Central 2B League doubleheader, earning 5-4 and 11-7 wins against Winlock here on Monday.

The first game was a battle, as the teams were tied at three going into the seventh inning. Brady Steveson led off the inning with a double, advanced to third on a stolen base and scored on a wild pitch to put the Cardinals ahead going into the bottom of the inning.

Braiden Elledge hit a triple to get on base for MWP, and Gavyn Higdon brought Elledge home on a single to tie the game. Higdon advanced to third on a hit by Kade Gillispie, and an error that went into the outfield helped Higdon score the winning run.

“It was uncharted territory. We were in a position to win,” Winlock coach Scott Weinert said. “It’s very frustrating and a tough loss for the boys, they took it pretty hard. We were in a position to win and it got away from us.”

Elledge was 3 for 4 at the plate and Higdon was 2 for 3 for MWP. Zach Weinert was 2 for 3 with a run, and Justin Lewis was also 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI for Winlock.

The second game started off well for Winlock, which scored five runs in the top of the first inning. But MWP answered with two runs in the first and seven runs in the second to take the lead for good.

“We had Wyatt (Dean) on the mound and it wasn’t a question of balls and strikes,” Weinert said. “He was doing a good job and pitched strikes, they just timed him to their bats. Wyatt was working strike zone and limiting walks; they were just getting their hits off of him.”

Dean helped his own cause, going 4 for 5 with an RBI. Weinert was 2 for 5 with three RBIs and a run, Steveson had two hits and Lewis also had two hits with a run and RBI.

“We had some outstanding performances at the plate, we put the ball in play, but we left way too many guys on base tonight,” Weinert said.

Quinton Berkompas was 4 for 4 with three RBIs, and Josh Morris went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for MWP.

“That’s our first sweep in the last couple years,” MWP coach Jeff Rashoff said. “Those were two games we really needed to win if we’re going to make the district playoffs.”

Winlock (0-14, 0-12 league) hosts Adna in a Central 2B League doubleheader on Friday. MWP (5-8, 4-8 league) travels to Toutle Lake for a league doubleheader on Friday.

Adna Sweeps Mossyrock in Doubleheader

ADNA — The Pirates winning streak reached six games here Monday with a C2BL sweep — 10-0 and 18-0 — of Mossyrock.

Spencer Burdick allowed just two hits and three walks with 11 strikeouts to get the win in Game 1 for Adna.

The Pirates notched six doubles in the opener. Bryce McCloskey was 3 for 3 at the plate, while Burdick and David Young were each 2 for 3 with a double. Tyson Gray had two doubles.

In the second game, Mossyrock jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Adna walked six batters and gave up two hits, and had a bases loaded error before the top of the inning was over.

“Anytime you spot somebody seven runs, you’re a little nervous,” Adna coach Jon Rooklidge said.

But the Pirates chipped away at the Viking lead, scoring three in the first and two in the second to cut the lead to 7-5. Adna scored four runs in the fourth to take the lead and added six more runs in the sixth to put the game away.

“We felt like we were going to score some runs and that was a positive,” Rooklidge said. “It’s a good thing to have to come back in a hole like that and play catch up baseball. Our kids responded well there.”

Gray had two doubles. Young was 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs and Brady Collins added two RBIs. Derek Chilcoate was 2 for 3 with a triple. Kord Senter was 3 for 4 for Mossyrock, and teammates Danny Nelson and Brennan Shriver each had two hits.

Adna (9-4, 8-4 league) travels to Winlock for a Central 2B League doubleheader on Friday. Mossyrock (1-11) also plays again Friday, hosting Onalaska in a C2BL doubleheader.
