Weekend soccer report: Tobin’s stellar season continues in Pirates rout

A week after finding the back of the net seven times in three victories, Adna’s Lydia Tobin continued her offensive prowess with two more goals in Friday’s 4-1 non-league victory against Tonasket at home.

Over the last six matches, Tobin has scored a combined 13 goals. The senior striker made it a 3-0 lead for the Pirates in the 47th minute and put the finishing touches on the win in the 78th minute.

“Very (evenly matched) most of the night,” Adna head coach Patrick Richardson said. “I don’t feel like we took any steps backwards from where we left off. We have a tougher stretch of league play coming up, so hopefully we keep improving and stepping up to the challenge.”

Despite Tonasket outshooting the Pirates 18-15, the latter jumped ahead at the half 2-0 on a 21st minute tally from Haley Roundtree and Ava Humphrey scored in the 33rd minute off a Tobin corner kick.

Adna resumes C2BL action on Monday versus Ocosta.

Kaut, Gallagher push Napavine past Tonasket

A contest between a pair of schools with nicknames of Tigers was chippy and featured two yellow cards, but Napavine scored twice in the first half and that was enough for a 2-0 non-league win on Saturday.

It was the Hayden Kaut and Jenna Gallagher show for Napavine, winners of seven straight after an 0-2 start. Kaut found Gallagher in the 12th minute to lead 1-0, then Gallagher returned the favor as Kaut doubled the cushion in the 36th minute.

Napavine goalie Taylen Evander posted her third consecutive clean sheet with six saves. The Tigers will hit the road and take on Toledo in a key C2BL contest with both teams yet to suffer a league setback.
