2B Fastpitch: Loggers Fall in Five Innings

Posted

Onalaska surrendered eight runs on nine walks as the Loggers fell 11-1 to Toutle Lake in five innings on the road Wednesday.

Starting pitcher Dylan Zigler, pitching in just her second game in a year, fanned eight Ducks while scattering five hits across 4 ½ innings of work. The Ducks (2-0), coming off a win over Napavine on Tuesday, had nine fly balls to left and center fields against Ony.

“We’ve got to tighten up the strike zone, let her breathe and she’ll be alright,” Onalaska coach Rich Teitzel said.

Hannah James scored the lone run for the Onalaska, which collected three total hits as a team. The Loggers have now lost two straight to start the season after falling 12-6 on the road to Toledo (1-0) on Tuesday. Ony (0-2) will make it three-consecutive games in a row when it hosts Rainier (0-0) at 4 p.m. Thursday.

“It’s there. We’re coming around,” Teitzel said. “Just have to shake the rust and put it back together here going forward. The girls will come around.”
