On Thursday, the owners of Adna Grocery, Jim and Cindy Smith, presented Adna High School students with an oversized check made out for $48,926.48.
That's the amount that was raised during the annual Adna Car Show. All proceeds after expenses go to the 2027 seniors who volunteered their time at the car show. The amount each student receives for their scholarship depends on the hours that they put in.
The first Adna Car Show was held in July 2020 and had over 220 cars. It was the only car show held that year amid pandemic restrictions on large gatherings.
In 2020, the show raised $7,989; in 2021, $16,698; 2022, $17,680; 2023, $29,350; 2024, $29,165: 2025, $40,000; and $48,926 in 2026.
Since 2000, the Adna Car Show has raised $189,808 for scholarships.
The Smiths will host the car show again in 2027.
The show will again be held in the field across from the Adna Grocery, featuring food and craft vendors, a beer garden, sky divers, a cornhole tournament, live music, DJs, live and silent auctions, a 50/50 drawing and possibly a car parts swap meet and air show.
Donations and sponsorships are accepted. Residents and businesses can donate items for the live and silent auctions. Donor names or business names will be on a donation banner displayed at the event.
Residents interested in being a sponsor should make checks payable to the Adna Car Show and mail to The Adna Car Show, P.O. Box 283, Adna, WA, 98522.
For more information, call Jim Smith at 360-880-3839.
Sponsorships should be in by July 6, so organizers have time to get banners and shirts printed.
The funds from the car show weren’t the only thing the Smiths announced on Thursday.
Jim and Cindy Smith also had a large check for Adna basketball players at Adna High School.
The basketball players were presented with a check from the proceeds of the Adna Clam and Corn Feed that took place Sept. 19.
The check was for $10,670. It will go to support the Adna basketball program.
