The Adna girls soccer team dropped its third straight match against a higher-classification opponent Monday, losing 4-1 at home to 3A Evergreen.

The Pirates (0-3) conceded in the second minute, but Reagan Naillon leveled things in the 16th on an unassisted goal. Evergreen retook the lead in the 29th minute, and took a 2-1 lead into the break.

“We played a pretty solid first half overall,” Adna coach Patrick Richardson said.

The Plainsmen stretched the advantage in the second half, scoring in the 51st minute, and again in the 73rd.

“A few mistakes here and there turned out to be costly in the end, but we played with a bit of a different formation that we hadn’t really practiced yet,” Richardson said. “So definitely something we can clean up in practice the next few days.”

Evergreen ended up outshooting Adna 11-3. Richardson pointed to senor Margarite Humphrey for leading the way as the Pirates’ “backbone” for much of the night.

Adna will take on 1A Tenino in another tough non-leaguer on the road Thursday.
