The Adna volleyball team remained perfect on Tuesday with a win in four sets at Kalama, winning 25-22, 25-22, 19-25, 25-21.

While the Pirates (7-0, 2-0 C2BL) did drop a set for the first time this season, they quickly rebounded to slam the door on any potential Kalama comeback.

“The girls did a good job finding ways to terminate the sets,” Adna coach Wendie Dotson said. “We had a few ball handling calls that stopped our momentum, but the girl kept pushing to keep the team momentum.”

Kendall Humphrey and Karsyn Freeman both recorded double-doubles, as Humphrey racked up 20 kills and 16 digs in addition to three blocks and two aces while Freeman tallied 13 digs and 11 kills.

Several other Pirates also stuffed the stat sheet in the win, including Charissa Schierman (19 assists, four kills, two digs), Gaby Guard (22 assists, five kills, a block and an ace), and Danika Hallom (14 digs, five kills, two aces and a block).

Bailey Chapman also notched three kills and three blocks, while Ashlee VonMoos had three aces.

The Pirates will look to continue their strong start to the season on Thursday, when they’ll head to Morton to take on MWP.
