Local farmers will take to the stage, or Olsen Field in Ethel, rather, for the second annual Olsen Field Progress Days on Aug. 24 and Aug. 25 as sounds of tractor pulls and other antique farming equipment being fired up for demonstrations will fill the air.

Doors for the event open at 8 a.m. both days.

Though Ethel is just one of the many quiet communities that dot the White Pass Scenic Byway on U.S. Highway 12, this will be the second noisy weekend in a row following the sounds of motorcycles at the 20th annual Kickback Campout happening this upcoming weekend at the same location.

Olsen Field is tucked away just off  U.S. Highway 12 on 111 Tucker Road in Ethel. Admission to Progress Days is $5 per person.

A family-friendly event, Olsen Field Progress Days features tractor pull competitions with custom tractors, local food and artisan vendors, and antique farming equipment, including steam threshers, hit and miss engines and drag saws. Additionally, a drag saw demonstration will also take place during the event.

Live music will also be performed both nights starting at 6 p.m. by local musician Johnny Ray Myers and the band Two for You, according to event organizers.

A beer garden will be set up for those 21 and older. It is being run by ABATE of Washington Lewis County Chapter, which is also organizing the Kickback Campout.
