The Thurston County Auditor’s Elections Division has mailed more than 52,000 ballots to voters in the county for the April 25 Special Election.

Voters registered in the cities of Olympia and Tumwater will have the chance to weigh in on Proposition No. 1, which entertains the formation of a regional fire authority.

Registered voters in Thurston County who live within the Centralia School District will see a proposition for a replacement educational programs and operations levy.

Any registered voter who thinks they should have received a ballot but hasn’t by Wednesday, April 12 should contact the auditor’s office at 360-786-5408 or by email at elections@co.thurston.wa.us.

Ballots for military and overseas voters registered in Thurston County were mailed on Friday, March 24.

The office has opened 13 secure ballot drop boxes throughout the county. A list of ballot drop box locations and addresses is included in the mailed ballot materials and online at thurstonwavotes.gov.

Ballots must be postmarked by April 25. Voters are advised to check mailboxes for pickup times to make sure their ballots will be postmarked by election day. No stamp is needed to mail a ballot. If someone misses their mail pickup time, which is usually 3 p.m., ballot drop boxes are open until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25.

Thurston County residents can register to vote, obtain a replacement ballot and vote using an accessibility voting device at the voting center at the Thurston County Elections Office at 2400 Evergreen Park Drive SW, Olympia. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays and will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.
