W.F. West came away with wins in all matches except No. 2 doubles and the Bearcats pushed their win streak to seven matches to beat rival Centralia, 5-1, on the road and remain undefeated on the season.
Bearcats’ Justin Chung defeated David Parsons, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 1 singles. Bearcats’ Javyn Han defeated Jordan Yeung, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 2 singles and W.F. West’s Andrew Boggess collected a forfeit victory in No. 3 singles.
On the doubles side, Bearcat dup Joseph Chung and Aaron Boggess defeated Landon Kaut and Brandon Yeung, 6-1, 6-2, in No. 1 doubles.
In No. 2 doubles, Centralia picked up its lone victory when Jacoby Corwin and Connor O’Dell defeated Hans Meier and Bryce Kuykendall, 6-2, 6-0.
“They’re undefeated against W.F. West in No. 2 doubles this year,” Centralia coach Scott Snyder said of Corwin and O’Dell.
In No. 3 doubles, Mason Walters and Will Cummings defeated Centralia’s Justin Kuykendall and Antonio Almanza, 6-3, 6-4.
Despite the loss, Snyder said he was proud of how his players are improving in his first year at the helm.
“Me being a new coach, the kids are coming along and finally getting the concept,” Snyder said. “They’re playing well.”
W.F. West coach Jack State is also pleased with his team, especially for starting out the year 7-0 after coming off a district championship last season.
“First doubles played very well, and third doubles, also, had a good, tough match,” State said.
W.F West (7-0, 6-0 league) hosts Eatonville on Tuesday. Centralia travels to Tumwater on Wednesday.
