The W.F. West golf team bounced back from a Monday loss in a big way on Wednesday, as the Bearcats put their best foot forward in a 215-239 win over Black Hills at Newaukum.

It was a 15 shot improvement over their loss on Monday, which was a welcome sign for W.F. West coach Matt Klovdahl.

“I was very excited by how the boys responded,” Klovdahl said. “I’m excited to see that.”

Sophomore Jamie Conatti led the way with a 39, though Jax Potter and Weston Potter weren’t far behind with a 40 and 41, respectively. Gage Grisham finished fourth on the Bearcats with a 46, while Hudson Morgan finished with a 49. Even Emmett Goodman, whose score was scratched as it wasn’t in the team’s top five, shot a respectable 50.

Phoenix Flores and Jack Casler were just as impressive for Black Hills, as they led the Wolves by both shooting a 41. Landon Echols shot a 47, while Logan Stallings and Joel Beldo added a 49 and a 52.

Both teams will be back in action on Monday, as W.F. West will face Centralia at Riverside while Black Hills will host Shelton at Tumwater Valley.
