Beavs Sweep Crimson Hawks in Colville Doubleheader

Taking a nearly 400-mile trek to the northeast corner of the state, the Tenino baseball team made sure it returned home with a pair of wins, sweeping Colville Tuesday afternoon 8-1 and then 7-6 in non-league play.

The Beavers won the first game with relatively little stress, 8-1, thanks to a gem from Cody Strawn on the hill. Strawn picked up the win, tossing 6 1/3 innings while allowing just one run on three hits and five walks with four strikeouts. Easton Snider stepped in on clean-up duty to pitch the final two outs.

At the dish, Brody Noonan went 2 for 3 with a pair of runs scored and Jack Burkhardt knocked in a pair of runs on a base hit.

The second game was a tad more stressful, as the Beavers fell behind, 5-2, before coming back to win 7-6.

Five errors helped the Crimson Hawks take a three-run lead in the bottom of the second, with just one run earned against Noonan, who started on the mound. Noonan struck out seven and walked six in three innings of work.

Snider stepped back in relief to pitch two innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits with two strikeouts, and Burkhardt earned a save, pitching the last two innings with a strikeout.

Burkhardt continued his strong day at the plate as well, smacking two doubles with an RBI and a run scored. Strawn also hit two doubles with two RBIs and a run scored in Game 2.

The Beavers will take their two wins into another road matchup against Newport Wednesday.
