Blazers Blitzed By Red Devils

The Centralia College men’s basketball team made it a game for 10 minutes, but the rest of the way at Michael Smith gymnasium was an exercise in Lower Columbia leaving the Blazers in the dust in what turned ugly in a 101-66 ballgame.

Just about halfway through the first half, Centralia trimmed its deficit to just two points on a Bryce Cline layup, making it an 18-16 game. From that point on, though, the Red Devils ripped off a 24-13 run to get things to double-digits by halftime.

Coming out of the break, LCC slowly worked its lead up in a back-and-forth game, and 10 minutes into the second, a three-point play by Chehalis’ own Carter McCoy got it to 20 at 67-47. Just two and a half minutes later, it was 30 at 79-49, and the Red Devils kept the pace up to hit triple-digits in the scoring column in the final minute of the ugly affair.

Juelz Mendoza led the Blazers with 14 points and nine rebounds. Raymond Guillory pitched it 12 points, and Deshawn Keperling had 11 off the bench.

Centralia will wrap up its February slate with its final home game of the regular season Saturday, hosting Green River.
