Board of County Commissioners Seeks Volunteer for Lewis County Civil Service Commission

The Lewis County Board of County Commissioners is looking for two volunteers to serve on the county’s Civil Service Commission. The commission meets monthly and the volunteer’s term will be for six years, starting on Jan. 1, 2023.

Some of the Civil Service Commission’s duties include:

• Records keeping and approving payrolls

• Creating rules for operation of the civil service system in accordance with state law

• Testing applicants to ensure they can perform duties involved with the civil service position sought

• Conducting investigations and preparing reports; hearing and determining appeals and complaints



• Developing and holding competitive testing to determine candidate qualifications

• Preparing eligibility lists based off of testing results and being able to certify to the appointing authority the names of candidates ranked highest on eligibility lists

Completed applications can be submitted one of three ways. They can be mailed to the commissioners’ office at 351 NW North St. Chehalis, WA 98532, or can be dropped off in-person at that address as well in room 210.

Email can also be utilized by sending the application to Committees@LewisCountywa.gov with “Civil Service” in the subject line.  Applications will be accepted until 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9
