The Lewis County Bowling Association recently held its fourth annual We Love Animals and Hate Cancer Bowling Tournament, raising nearly $20,000 for three local nonprofits.

The beneficiaries of the fundraiser are the Providence Southwest Washington Foundation benefitting the Cancer Care Fund in Lewis County, Red Rose Animal Rescue in Rochester and the Onalaska Farm Sanctuary.

Each nonprofit received a check for $6,239.62 from the tournament’s proceeds.

The tournament, held on Sunday, Feb 23, and Sunday, March 2, was comprised of singles and mixed-doubles playing three games of Nine-Pin No-Tap each Sunday. During the breaks in-between games, bowlers and guests were able to participate in quilt raffles and a silent auction for unique goods and services donated by the local community, the Lewis County Bowling Association stated in a news release.

The event was sponsored by more than 60 local Lewis County businesses and individuals.

“A big thank you goes out to Barb Overlin, Ron Keller, Molly Beaver, Jennifer Smith and Darbo Hughes for coordinating the tournament and making it both fun and successful,” the news release stated.
