Brewer, Barr, Barnes and Smith Johnston appear victorious in Centralia City Council primary

Preliminary results for two Centralia City Council at-large position primaries were released by the Lewis County Auditor’s Office on Tuesday night. 

In the race between Steven Hubbard, Chris Brewer and Russell Barr for Centralia City Council position 1 at-large, Brewer leads with 899 votes, followed by Barr with 529 votes and Hubbard with 410. 

In the race between Kelly Smith Johnston, Leah Daarud, Joyce Barnes and Anthony Ahrens  for Centralia City Council position 2 at-large, Smith Johnston leads with 1,029 votes, followed by Barnes with 522 votes, Daarud with 179 votes and Ahrens with 159. 

The top two vote-getters will advance to face each other in the general election scheduled for Nov. 7. 

In the first round of ballots counted, just 21.82% of Lewis County’s 35,140 registered voters had turned out. Over 7,600 ballots had been counted throughout the county, and the next set of results was slated to come in at 4 p.m. on Aug. 2.



The election will be certified on Aug. 15 at the Lewis County Courthouse.
