The Centralia Ballet Academy will celebrate its 16th year by bringing back its family-friendly Halloween show this fall and expanding its winter “Nutcracker” performance.
The academy’s “Halloween Spooktacular” takes place at Centralia College’s Corbet Theater on Saturday, Oct. 19, with performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The show will feature Halloween-themed dances, many of them choreographed by the ballet academy’s student company dancers. There will also be a “boo-tique,” a holiday-themed bake sale and other fun surprises, according to organizers. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at centraliaballet.com or by calling or texting 360-623-9010.
This December, the ballet academy will take its annual “Nutcracker” production to Shelton, which was named Christmastown USA after breaking the Guinness Book World Record for Most Illuminated Christmas Trees, according to a news release. The show will run from Dec. 7 to Dec. 8 at the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center.
In addition to the cast of more than 60 dancers, these shows will also include kids from Shelton who are part of the ballet academy’s outreach program. The Shelton youth “will perform a brand new scene created just for them,” organizers said in a news release.
“The Nutcracker” will return to Centralia College’s Corbet Theater for performances Dec.13 to Dec. 14.
“Mark your calendar for this magical holiday tradition,” the ballet academy said in a news release.
Owned by Mickey and Nancy Gunter, the Centralia Ballet Academy provides students with “structured, disciplined, classically-based dance training in a positive, family-friendly environment at an affordable cost,” according to the academy’s website.
