Centralia College’s commercial driver license (CDL) program celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its two new dedicated trucks and a new driving range on Wednesday, Sept. 13. The new site of the CDL classes is off of North Pearl Street in Centralia.
“The long-term lease agreement is a huge development for the program, which has been running two full cohorts of students per quarter for the last several quarters,” Centralia College stated in a news release.
Before the new lease agreement, the CDL program borrowed trucks from the diesel technology program.
The trucks and the lease are funded by a grant from the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges. A third truck will be coming soon.
Also on Wednesday, the CDL program recognized Rayonier Forest Products in Chehalis for its support. A donation to the Centralia College Foundation from Rayonier was used to fund GPS systems in the new trucks, according to Centralia College.
